Tools for P-20 Alliances

BMWA collects and creates tools that link research, policy, and practice. The Bridging Multiple Worlds Toolkit builds a common language among partners by providing sample questions, coding formats, and key findings that map 5 key dimensions important for building pathways to college and careers. Workshop materials, consent forms, survey and interview measures, and a pre-college curriculum “It’s All About Choices” accompany the Toolkit. Partners use the Toolkit in schools, community programs, and universities.

The Cultural Bridges to College Project has mapped 150 home languages besides English across six states. On this website, BMWA provides links to pathways to college materials in 19 of these languages, including Cambodian (Khmer), Chinese (compatible with Cantonese, Hakka, Mandarin, and Fukienese dialects), Chuukese (Trukese), French, Hawaiian, Hmong, Ilocano, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Marshallese, Portuguese, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog, Tongan, Vietnamese, and Visayan. BMWA itself helped produce the materials in Khmer (Cambodian) and is working to develop materials in Mixteco and Trique, two Mexican indigenous languages that are spoken by a growing number of U.S. families.

The P-20 Virtual Library is a growing collection of references and tools that help students, families, schools, and those interested in advancing science, policy, and practice of educational equity. We welcome your suggestions for additions to the P-20 library (please see contact information).
